PROJECT DETAILS

XL Industrial completed the required civil work including: layout, pile driving, and pouring of large concrete pads for the (4) John Zinc NOxStar Marine Vapor Combustion Units and (1) John Zinc Terminal Vapor Combustion Unit. Installation included blowers, gas mixing chambers, all associated equipment and components, piping, and instrumentation.

Along with the VCU work scope, XL Industrial installed piping systems required to move crude from the terminal tankage to the east and west berth crude tanker loading docks. Piping systems included all layout, pile driving, concrete supports, structural steel, as well as fabrication and installation of large and small bore piping. XL’s crews installed 475 driven piles, 270 pile caps, 150 structural steel supports, 5500 feet of 36” crude piping and 24” vapor piping, 2700 feet of 10” crude and vapor piping, 600 feet of 12” galvanized fire water piping, and 5500 feet of 4” natural gas and instrument air piping.

All piping systems installed were welded downhill per B31.3 and were subject to 10% non-destructive examination and hydrostatic testing per customer’s specifications. In order to ensure long service life, all piping systems were coated with a 3-part system to protect from the elements of the Texas Gulf Coast.

XL Industrial’s workforce peaked at 30 craftspeople working 6 days a week, 10 hours per day. XL Industrial provided all supervisory and safety personnel to ensure work was completed in a safe manner and to customer’s specifications.
