PROJECT DETAILS

XL Crews working from a customer supplied “Solid Works Model” and field generated fabrication drawings, converted from metric measurements, fabricated and installed new CS pipe of SCH 40 runs from 1” to 6” pipe to 24 TCU units. Piping included Supply & Return headers (Expansion & Filling, Airline, High and Low point drains, and Thermal Reliefs), all drops to the TCU units, to owner supplied equipment to the XL installed TCU skids located below the production roll equipment line on the lower level.

All welding was completed per 31.3 downhill welding, including 5% x-ray as specified by the owner. The crew consisted of 14 mechanics working 60-hour weeks to meet the fast-paced schedule. The project included coating on exposed uninsulated lines. Remaining lines were insulated with mineral wool or Armaflex covered with a PVC Jacket. The new equipment line is now in production of customer materials as designed by Krauss Maffei.
